Boxes are magical things. Don’t believe me?! Just ask a kid. Boxes can be cars and spaceships. They can be castles or cottages. Caves or tunnels. Creation is only limited by imagination.
Last night, we had a couple of empty boxes from an Amazon delivery and my son asked to keep them. I was planning to break them down for recycling, but being summer vacation, I thought it could wait. With a box of crayons and a pair of scissors, he built a car (complete with his own recorded tutorial 😂) and made a cave. He played for hours and even watched a Dude Perfect episode from the mouth of his cave (I wish I had a picture of that)!

Creativity doesn’t have to be expensive. Here’s a couple of things I have on hand to encourage creativity and bust boredom:
- Boxes
- Craft drawer: paper, scissors, coloring supplies, strings or pipe cleaners, etc. (Even bits of things left over from school projects)
- Building materials (blocks, legos, magnet tiles)
So keep the box, Mama. Let imagination run wild! And enjoy summer! ☀️😎⛱️
