3 Secrets You Never Knew About Mid-Year Goal Check-ins

2020 has been a crazy year! Think back to those resolutions, goals, bucket lists you created WAY BACK in January. You know before the coronavirus, the nationwide shutdown, the murder hornets (I don’t know what happened to them), the riots and looting, and the Sahara Dust. What goals did you set for this year? And do you feel like you’re on-target or sidetracked? Do you even remember those goals?

Here are 3 secrets to help you with your goals:

Write your goals down.

Seems simple enough but did you do it? If not, write them down now. Did you write them down in January? If so, update them. We will not achieve what we cannot see. Write your goals down and post them where you can see them!

Write MEASURABLE Goals.

A structure like SMART (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) can help you organize your goal into something manageable and attainable. Here’s an example:

Goal: I want to be more organized.

What does that mean? What will you do? When will you be done? — Do you see all of the problems with that goal? It’s not really a goal because there’s no real way to know when you’ve achieved it.

SMART Goal: I want to keep meal time more organized by planning meals weekly on Sundays, recording the plan on a family calendar, shopping weekly and keeping recipes pulled out daily.

This is SPECIFIC (meal planning), MEASURABLE (100% weekly), ACHIEVABLE (steps in place), RELEVANT (family), TIME-BOUND (weekly, daily, Sundays).

Reflect regularly.

Life changes and so do our goals. Look at them. Record progress. Make adjustments. Keep working!
