Summer Self-Care for LIFE: Finances

Do you remember the satisfaction of saving your coins in a bank and finally having enough to buy that one item you couldn’t live without? Or the feeling of birthday or Christmas money burning a hole in your pocket? Those were the days…before bills and adult responsibilities.

Today we are continuing our look at self-care in the area of finances. Here are some ideas for financial self-care from small (non-bank breaking) purchases to saving options!

Splurge on a Special Treat

Occasionally it’s OK to splurge on a little treat and it doesn’t take a ton of money. Here’s a few ideas:

  • A specialty coffee or frozen treat
  • Freshen up your manicure with Color Street polish strips! Glitters, designs and french manicures…OH MY! Tell my stylist, Wynter that I sent you over or join the community on Facebook!
  • What about jewelry?! It’s possible with Paparazzi’s $5 Jewelry and my girl, Hannah can hook you up!
  • What about a new lipgloss or eye color?! Changing up a color or two can energize your makeup and give you a new confidence!

Invest in Yourself

These may be a little pricier but investing in yourself can have long-lasting benefits!

  • Our skin is our largest organ and we should take care of it! Think about reviving your skincare routine or starting one. You can use the Mary Kay Skin Analysis App to get a look at your skin needs! Check out my review here. Using the right products can give you a radiant glow and fight the signs of aging. Or consider investing in a beauty tool like the Skinvigorate Brush or a good set of brushes.
  • A quality planner can keep your organized, reflect your style and give you a fresh start every day! My favorite planner investment is Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner Daily. You can use my LINK and save yourself $10!

Create Avenues for Fun Money

Sometimes those treats just aren’t in the budget. What if you could splurge using money outside your budget?! Um, yes!

  • If you’re an online shopper, give Rakuten a try. You shop through their links at stores and you get cash back! That can be your splurge money.
  • Sell stuff you aren’t using anyway! Local consignment shops or thrift stores can allow you to sell items. There are also tons of sites online from ebay to poshmark to mercari. Read the details because each site has its own terms, but it could be a great option to get cash for those unwanted or barely used items.
  • Turn a hobby into cash. Sites like Etsy or TeachersPayTeachers allow you to create crafts or materials, even downloadable ones, for sale.
