Summer Self-Care for LIFE: Fitness

A couple of days ago I started this series where we will use the 7 areas of life mentioned by the OOLAguys to balance our self-care and you can check it out HERE along with a free printable bucket list!

Consider this area of your life. Are you getting exercise? Are you enjoying it? I have a confession to make right here…I hate to run. I. HATE. TO. RUN. If I’m running it’s because one of kids is in mortal danger or something is chasing me. That’s it. And this is probably my most neglected area.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Swimming. We have a community pool and it’s not very crowded in the mornings. As a matter of fact, there is an older gentleman who goes to swim laps every morning before we have our little ones lathered in sunscreen and armed with pool toys.
  • Walk on the beach. This is a no-brainer for me, but we’re only a few hours from the coast. If you don’t have a beach handy, find a lake shore. There is just something about a leisurely walk near water.
  • Ride a bike. Do you remember as a child riding down a hill with the wind in your hair and feeling invincible? Take a few minutes and go for a ride.
  • Run or Jog. Just because I don’t like to run doesn’t mean that someone else won’t enjoy it.
  • Yoga. Stretching and breathing can really help you recenter yourself.
