About two months ago, I got my feelings hurt. It happens to everyone, but rather than blame someone else (we’ve all done it) or shut down and quit (I’m not alone here either, I hope), I decided to make sure it never happened again. So I set some pretty hefty goals for myself. I think that if your goal doesn’t scare you a little, it’s probably not big enough.

  • I wanted to start my blog to be an encouragement and share ways to enhance the beauty God gave each of us.
  • I wanted to earn my May and June jewelry (who doesn’t love jewelry bonuses?!)
  • I want to invest time into sharing the opportunity and building a team.

So I printed my goals and hung them up in my office. It’s important for me to see them everyday. And I also have a quote up that says, “Set a goal and do something about it every day.” So that’s what I did. A little bit every day.

Goal 1: the Blog

My first goal was to start my blog and as you can see, I did it! Research is important. I wanted to choose the best tool for me. Now I don’t know all the features, but I’m learning.

I love Mary Kay and that’s no secret. It’s the only brand I’ve ever used and I’ve sold it for 20 years! But I wanted to do more than just sell. I want to make a difference and be an encouragement. Skincare is important. Make-up is important. But they only enhance and protect the beauty each woman is born with. In this world climate, we need more focus on beauty and it’s not a one size, tone, image fits all. I believe God created us each with a unique beauty and that should be celebrated!

Goal 2: Earn May & June Bonuses

I love prizes! Especially sparkly gorgeous ones! One of my primary love languages is gifts so this is perfect for me!

In May our theme was “Be a miracle-worker” and I was determined to achieve it! So in the midst of a quarantine, I set out to make some miracles. I learned from others, watched others, and began building a virtual business.

In June, the theme is “Be Driven.” After the success of last month, I continued my strategy. Focus on my goal and do something everyday. And I achieved the goal in half the time!

Goal 3: Team

I wanted to increase my team to 10 people by the end of summer. And right now I’m at 9! It’s only June. Whoa!

In the past, I’ve rarely talked about the business opportunity. Why? I don’t know really. Perhaps fear…rejection maybe. But I started thinking, what if someone had been afraid to tell me? I believe that God has a plan (and yes, he can absolutely use Mary Kay!) and I may miss out on the blessing of someone if I don’t share. So I’m sharing!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

Hebrews 12: 1-2

I can’t help but think of this scripture during this period of time. Life is a race of endurance; a marathon rather than a sprint. And keeping our eyes on Jesus allows us to see beyond the obstacles. It allows us to keep heading in the right direction.

During the past several weeks, I’ve thought a lot about that. This Mary Kay journey is a marathon too and with goals firmly in my sights, I intend to endure!
